DENVER—An autopsy has concluded that a 2-year-old boy who was shot during a weekend standoff in Denver died of a gunshot wound to the chest.

Police say Noah Crookham died Sunday in his father’s arms as his father ran away from a man who shot a handgun during a domestic dispute.

That man, Earl Ryan, faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder, in the death of the toddler and the wounding of the child’s father. Ryan held police at bay for two hours before surrendering.

Noah Crookham’s father, Thomas Crookham, suffered minor injuries.

Police say Ryan had been living in the basement of Thomas Crookham’s estranged wife and that Ryan went for a gun after seeing Thomas Crookham in the home. A bullet struck Noah as Crookham ran away while carrying the child.
