STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLO. — Routt County Sheriff Gary Wall has been sentenced to a year of unsupervised probation and 36 hours of community service after he was convicted of driving while ability-impaired.
Wall was sentenced Wednesday. He was also ordered to get 12 hours of alcohol education and therapy, pay fines and fees totaling $816 and not drink alcohol during his year on probation.
A Steamboat Springs jury convicted Wall in July of DWAI, failing to dim his headlights and prohibited use of a weapon.
A state trooper stopped Wall in October 2007 for driving toward approaching traffic with high-beam headlights on. Authorities say Wall refused roadside sobriety and blood alcohol tests.
Wall later denied consuming anything that would affect his ability to drive.
