COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—A 63-year-old woman accused in the deaths of two bicyclists police say were hit by her truck will stand trail.

Barbara Thomas’ trial was ordered after testimony Thursday from a police officer who says Thomas was under the influence of morphine and barbiturates at the time of the crash.

Killed in the accident were 30-year-old Edgar “E.J.” Juarez and 28-year-old Jayson Kilroy. A coroner says they died from massive internal injuries after Thomas allegedly struck them with her Ford F-350.

The officer also testified Thomas was remorseful after the accident, saying it should’ve been her who died because she is terminally ill.

Her trial is scheduled for March 2. Thomas is free on $10,000 bail.
