DENVER—Some abortion opponents in Colorado are fasting to prepare for the state’s historic vote on when life begins.
Colorado voters have a ballot measure making them the first in the nation to decide whether life begins at conception. The measure asks to amend the Colorado Constitution to say that a person includes a fertilized egg.
In an e-mail to supporters of the amendment, organizers asked them to consider joining a “three-day prayer team” to prepare for the vote. They’re asked to fast and pray for three days before the vote if possible.
Opponents say the ballot measure could also make illegal some kinds of fertility treatments and contraception.
