DANA POINT, CALIF. — The Rockies are holding the line on their season-ticket prices, according to a letter sent to season-ticket holders obtained by The Denver Post.

The move comes after the most disappointing season in Rockies” history, a 74-88 record and third-place finish in the National League West following their first-ever World Series appearance in 2007.

It follows a trend in baseball where many teams, aware that disposal income is shrinking in a turbulent economy, have frozen season-ticket prices. Commissioner Bud Selig warned general managers this week to proceed with trepidation regarding team spending this winter.

The Rockies are also holding a customer appreciation event at dugout stores for season-ticket holders. They will receive 40 percent off all regularly-priced merchandise, excluding collectibles, from Nov. 28-30.

The Rockies raised ticket prices a year ago following the organization’s most successful season.
