CHADRON, Neb. — Mark Haag ran for 153 yards and scored rushing and receiving touchdowns to lead Chadron State to a 39-7 win over Western State and an undefeated record in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Eagles finished 9-0, 10-1 overall.

Haag got the scoring started with a 61-yard run in the first quarter, and his 12-yard TD catch from Joe McClain in the third put the Eagles up 26-0. The Mountaineers’ (2-8, 2-7) lone score came on Nathan Acrey’s pass to JR Finley from 3 yards late in the third quarter.

Adams State 16, CSU-Pueblo 8

PUEBLO — After a 24-year hiatus, the Grizzlies and Thunderwolves renewed their rivalry with a slugfest, and a bit of an ugly one. Six CSU-Pueblo starters were on the Adams State squad last season, joining former coach Wayne McGinn, now the CSU-P offensive coordinator, as the Thunderwolves restarted their football program. Personal foul penalties were abundant: seven on Adams State and three on CSU-Pueblo.

The game was scoreless at halftime, with the Grizzlies getting on the board in the third quarter when Josh Gibson connected with Jarison Johnson from 4 yards. Adams State got its next nine points from the defense, a safety when Zack Ricketts tackled Thunderwolves quarterback Bobby Washington in the end zone, and a 6-yard fumble return by Rocco DeLorenzo, who recovered a bad snap.

CSU-Pueblo got its lone score late in the fourth quarter on a 55-yard touchdown pass from Washington to Ayrius Justin.

Nebraska-Kearney 63, Mesa State 10

KEARNEY, Neb. — Former Bear Creek High School standout Jake Spitzlberger completed 15-of-19 passes for 239 yards and rushed for two scores as the Lopers (7-4, 7-2 RMAC) wrapped up a second-place tie with Colorado Mines with the rout.

Fellow Bear Creek alum Riley Newcomer, a transfer from Wyoming, had touchdown runs of 1, 3 and 70 yards and finished with 200 yards. Jake Mandelko had two interceptions in the closing minutes and returned them 75 and 40 yards.

Bobby Coy rushed for 83 yards on 21 carries for the Mavericks (6-5, 6-3).

Western New Mexico 48, Fort Lewis 24

SILVER CITY, N.M. — Quarterback Chris Voller scorched the Skyhawks’ defense for 433 yards and five touchdowns as Fort Lewis (2-9, 1-8 RMAC) ended its season with its fifth consecutive loss.
