LITTLETON, Colo.—An unidentified white powder has been found in a Littleton high school locker, prompting authorities to evacuate the school and take the student and two staff members to a hospital.
Littleton Public Schools spokeswoman Diane Leiker says paramedics took the Heritage High student to the hospital Monday when he appeared intoxicated.
Two staff members searching the student’s locker developed itchy skin and red, watery eyes, prompting another call firefighters.
The staffers were decontaminated and taken to the hospital as a precaution. School was dismissed about 30 minutes early.
Fire department spokesman Jay Ruoff says tests are under way to identify the powder.
It’s not clear how many of the school’s 1,550 students and 150 staff were present.
