PUEBLO — Trane Inc., a maker of commercial air-conditioning systems, says it will cut 270 jobs in the next three years from its Pueblo plant and transfer the workload to its plant in Monterrey, Mexico. Trane says the job cuts will happen through attrition, leaving about 450 workers at its Pueblo plant.
Spokesman Art Scheskie says five salaried positions were eliminated Wednesday, but a detailed plan on how and when the rest of the cuts would happen was not yet available.
Trane has about 29,000 employees worldwide in 29 plants. The cuts at one of Pueblo’s largest employers were announced in a year when the city was picked for a Vestas Wind Tower plant to employ up to 550 workers.
