COMMERCE CITY — Commerce City police are investigating a barroom donnybrook that erupted in gunfire and left one man injured on Saturday night.
The man was taken to an area hospital with an injury to his head.
Police don’t know if he was shot or hit with a pool cue or some other object, said Detective Mike Saunders.
But Saunders said the man, who hasn’t been identified, could have been hit by a ricocheting bullet that didn’t enter his skull.
“There were no bullet fragments inside the head. It looks like a ricochet, but he could have been struck with a pool stick or a pool ball,” Saunders said.
The fight involved as many as 10 people when it started inside El Viva Villa Bar and Grill, 5411 Quebec St.
Shots were fired inside the bar before the fight spilled onto the sidewalk, where the scuffle involved up to seven people.
Police detectives are attempting to interview witnesses and victims. “We have got some people not cooperating with us even on the victim’s side,” Saunders said.
