State GOP veteran Mike Hesse today said he’s not considering a run for the Colorado Republican Party’s chairmanship, though he has strong views on the direction the party should take.
Speculation over who – if anyone – will challenge current Chairman Dick Wadhams has included Hesse, a former party executive director.
Wadhams has said he will formally announce his run for re-election in the next few days.
Another speculative challenger, Denver GOP Chairwoman Mary Smith, said Monday she would not run. And Republican operative Sean Duffy, who also made the “maybe” list, has dismissed a run as well.
Hesse served as former Congressman Scott McInnis’ chief of staff. McInnis recently criticized both the tack the state GOP has taken and the selection of Bob Schaffer as the failed Republican candidate for U.S. Senate.
