Three men, including alleged Denver gang leader Brian Hicks, have been indicted in the murder of Kalonniann Clark, who was slain five days before she was to testify against Hicks.

The Denver grand jury alleged that in November and December of 2006, at the direction of Hicks, Willie Clark, 25, solicited and hired Shun Birch, 27, to assist in the murder of Kalonniann Clark.

The indictment alleges that on Dec. 6, 2006, Willie Clark and Birch went to Kalonniann Clark’s home, forced their way inside and fatally shot her.

Hicks, Clark, and Birch were charged with first-degree murder and various other counts. Hicks and Clark also were charged with aggravated intimidation of a witness.

Hicks, who was indicted by a federal grand jury in April 2007 in a crackdown on Denver street gangs, has been identified by authorities as a leader of the Tre Tre Crips gang.

Kalonniann Clark was to testify at Hicks’ attempted-murder trial.
