ST. JOHNS, Ariz. — An 8-year-old boy accused of killing his father and another man in Arizona will be allowed to spend Thanksgiving with his mom.

Judge Michael Roca decided over prosecutors’ objections Wednesday to allow the boy to leave juvenile detention for two days. He faces two counts of murder in the deaths Nov. 5 of his father and a man who was renting a room in the family’s home in St. Johns.

Roca ordered that no guns or knives be around while the boy is free.

The boy’s mother lives in Mississippi but said Wednesday she is staying in St. Johns. The boy had been living with his father and stepmother.
