DENVER—A man convicted of robbing seven banks has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.

A jury in August convicted 56-year-old Sammy Edward French of the robberies that took place in Colorado Springs and Denver from May through July 2006.

The banks robbed were World Bank branches in Denver and Colorado Springs, two Key Bank branches in Colorado Springs, and the Canon National Bank in Colorado Springs.

His sentence was handed down Thursday.

French previously served eight years in federal prison for a 1995 bank-robbery conviction.
