An Arapahoe County jury has found Jennifer Teeters guilty of child abuse in the death of an infant found in the back of a pick up truck in 2006.
Teeters was a friend of the infant’s mother, Christie Lee Cole, 25, who was charged with murder in the case. Cole pled guilty to child abuse resulting in death and received 39 years in prison.
The decomposing remains of Cole’s newborn daughter were found Aug. 6, 2006, amid trash in the back of a Chevy truck at the Country Gardens Mobile Home Park Strasburg. Authorities said the child was born in October of 2005.
The jury took six hours to find Teeters, 25, guilty of child abuse resulting in death, a felony that carries a penalty range of 16 to 48 years.
Teeters will be sentenced on Jan. 22.
