STATE COLLEGE, Pa.—Undefeated Penn State overcame an early deficit and swept California 25-21, 25-21, 25-17 Saturday in the quarterfinals of the NCAA women’s volleyball championship, extending the Nittany Lions’ record winning streak.
The Nittany Lions improved to 36-0, extended their record set winning streak to 109 and won their NCAA-record 62 straight match.
The Bears (26-7) charged to a 7-1 lead in the opener and held a 19-13 advantage before Penn State rallied with 12 of the last 14 points.
Setter Alisha Glass had 37 assists, while Megan Hodge had a match-high 13 kills.
Penn State advances to the national semis on Thursday in Omaha, Neb., against either Washington or Nebraska. The Nittany Lions are going for their second straight national title.
