OMAHA, Neb.—Penn State’s Russ Rose has been named American Volleyball Coaches Association coach of the year for the second straight season.

The top-ranked Nittany Lions entered Thursday’s NCAA semifinal against Nebraska with a 36-0 record, and they haven’t lost a set this season. They have won an NCAA-record 109 consecutive sets since beating Stanford in last year’s national championship match.

Penn State has played in all 28 NCAA women’s volleyball tournaments and earned 12 Big Ten titles in 18 years.

Rose has an NCAA-best .858 career winning percentage, with a 961-159 record in 30 years. Rose won national titles in 1999 and 2007 and has taken the Lions to the round of four seven times.
