RESTON, Va. — Online spending at U.S. retailers declined 3 percent in the holiday season compared with the same period a year earlier, research firm ComScore said.

Consumers spent $25.5 billion over the Internet from Nov. 1 through Dec. 23, the last day to buy gifts online in time for Christmas Eve delivery.
