Waking up Monday morning to several inches of snow on the ground might have caused some to rethink their plans for the day. But the ladies of The Guild of the Children’s Diabetes Foundation at Denver are a hardy bunch, and didn’t let a little storm stop them from attending the group’s annual meeting at Denver Country Club.
It was, after all, the occasion to hear just how successful their fundraising efforts were in 2008 (very) and to witness a change of command as Sally Newcomb passed the president’s gavel to Gail Johnson.
Brunch was served after Johnson and her executive board were installed. Then Charles “CJ” Johnson, a motivational speaker and assistant athletic director for the University of Colorado at Boulder, used his life story as an example of how anyone can “take average performance to a championship level.”
The guild’s officers include Sharon Kamen, president-elect; secretaries Annie Cotton and Sheridan Newcomb; treasurer Judy McNeil; and treasurer-elect Gina Abou-Jaoude. Diane Sweat chaired the annual meeting and Jamie Angelich will be in charge of The Guild’s fundraiser, the Brass Ring Luncheon & Fashion Show.
More good stuff.
