LINCOLN, Neb.—All-Big 12 defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh says he’ll return to Nebraska for his senior season.

Suh said in a statement released by the university on Monday that he made his decision after conferring with his family and coaches.

He said it’s his priority to graduate with his degree in construction management before leaving. He also said he wants to continue his development under coach Bo Pelini and the defensive staff.

“First, you can’t put a price on graduating from college, and I will leave here with my degree,” Suh said.

The 6-foot-4, 300-pounder from Portland, Ore., said staying another season will enhance his chances of having a successful career in the NFL.

“I look forward to helping Nebraska continue to take steps toward returning to the elite of college football in 2009,” he said.

Suh led the Huskers with 76 tackles, including 7.5 sacks. He also intercepted two passes, running back both for touchdowns.

Suh’s NFL stock was raised in the Jan. 1 Gator Bowl win over Clemson. He made eight tackles, including four behind the line of scrimmage. He had two sacks and blocked a field goal.

With Suh back, the Huskers will return seven starters on defense. Suh will anchor the line at nose tackle. Jared Crick will be among the candidates to join him inside. The Huskers have experienced defensive ends in Pierre Allen, Shukree Barfield and Barry Turner, who’ll be coming back from injury.
