Highlights from the Legislature on Tuesday:
— Parents of victims of carbon monoxide poisoning asked Colorado lawmakers to approve a bill that would require carbon monoxide detectors in new homes and rental properties when new tenants move in. The House Business Affairs Committee delayed action on the measure (House Bill 1091) because there was no estimate of how much the program would cost.
— The House Transportation & Energy Committee approved a bill requiring drivers to yield to buses pulling back into traffic. The bill now goes to the full House for debate (House Bill 1027).
New bills:
— Orders a moratorium until July 1, 2010, on rules issued by the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (Senate Bill 4).
— Bars businesses from keeping sales taxes to cover expenses if the vendor is delinquent paying taxes (House Bill 1101).
— Allows the Department of Revenue to determine if a driver is physically or mentally able to drive (House Bill 1096).
— Bars interpreters for the deaf from practicing without certification (House Bill 1090).
— Increases fees for getting married or divorced to pay for domestic abuse services (Senate Bill 68).
