GLENDALE, Ariz. — Of all the Arizona Cardinals who donned gray NFC champion T-shirts following Sunday’s 32-25 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, no one could appreciate it more than safety Adrian Wilson.
Wilson has been a Cardinal for eight years, longer than any other player in the locker room. It wasn’t until this season that the Cardinals finished with a winning record.
“It has been a roller-coaster ride for eight years, and to finally get to this point, to win an NFC championship, it means a lot,” Wilson said. “I’ve been saying this all night. The Arizona Cardinals just changed their stripes.”
Wilson, who earned his second Pro Bowl berth this season, tied for the team lead with seven tackles Sunday against the Eagles. He also sacked Philadelphia quarterback Donovan McNabb twice and forced McNabb to fumble in the third quarter.
“We didn’t sit back and cover like we did the first time we played these guys,” Wilson said, referring to the Eagles’ 48-20 rout of the Cardinals on Thanksgiving night. “We had blitzes and guys that could finish the blitz. That was the main thing.”
