COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—A scenic 37-acre parcel of land flanked by a Colorado Springs city park and a national forest is for sale after negotiations to preserve it as open space failed.
The land was once owned by Colorado Springs’ founder, Gen. William Jackson Palmer, and it contains the remnants of a cabin he built and used.
The current owners are three Colorado Springs couples who are offering it for $1.75 million.
Chris Lieber, manager of the Colorado Springs parks preservation program, says the city was interested in buying the land but didn’t have the money.
