CANON CITY, Colo.—Authorities have arrested two people in connection with a ring that allegedly smuggled heroin and cocaine into a minimum-security prison in Canon City.
Cara Fawn Carlyle of Pueblo faces charges of possession of drugs with intent to distribute and conspiracy to unlawfully distribute drugs.
Devin Schutter of Aspen faces a charge of conspiracy to unlawfully distribute drugs.
The 30-year-old Schutter appeared in court Wednesday. A hearing for the 32-year-old Carlyle was scheduled for Thursday.
Department of Corrections investigators say Carlyle’s boyfriend and Schutter’s brother were inmates at the Canon City prison. Neither inmate has been charged in the drug case but both have been transferred to a medium-security prison in Limon.
