Frisco is hosting the 39th annual Salomon Gold Rush Weekend Jan. 31-Feb. 1. Starting at 3 p.m. on Jan. 31, there will be $5 guided dogsled rides provided by Alpine Dog Sledding; there will also be fireworks and Spontaneous Combustion, the community bonfire, on the corner of Marina Road and Colorado 9.
On Feb. 1, nordic skiers and snowshoers compete in Colorado’s oldest citizens’ cross-country races, the Salomon Gold Rush. There will be a 5/10K classic, 5/1 0/20K skate, and the 7K Tubbs snowshoe race starting at 9 a.m. Children can participate in a 1K kids race at noon at the Frisco Nordic Center.
Preregistration for the Gold Rush races is available in person at Boulder Running Co. on Pearl Street in Boulder until noon on Jan. 29 and at the Frisco Nordic Center until 2 p.m. Jan. 30. Entry fees are $18 for ages 14 and under and over 60; $25 for 15 and older for all events. For an additional $5, entrants may participate in an additional race.
