Six missing people who had been headed for a ski hut have been found safe, Pitkin County officials reported Saturday.
The group was spotted shortly before 11 a.m. and was safely out of the field by 1 p.m., officials said.
Earlier, a man separated from the team of six hikers reported them lost Friday about 12 miles south of Aspen Mountain ski area.
The Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office reported that it received a telephone call from the man, who was not injured, at 6:36 p.m.
The man told authorities that he had been hiking with the group in the Goodwin-Greene Hut area, which is at the head of the Difficult Creek drainage.
The hikers were described as experienced skiers who were making their first trip to a hut in the area.
