A 14-year-old boy was killed in a car accident on I-25 in Pueblo this afternoon after being ejected.
According to a report by the Pueblo Police Department, the 1989 Honda Sedan rolled across several northbound lanes after crashing into the center median. Witnesses told police the car was traveling southbound at a “high rate of speed and swerved left to avoid other traffic,” before losing total control and crashing into oncoming lanes.
The driver, Dawn Castro , 28 , of Pueblo, was also ejected. A 5-year-old boy stayed in the car. Details of their conditions were no released.
A male passenger who was not identified fled the scene after speaking with police.
Investigators believe speed and alcohol may have contributed to the accident.
