A man and a 6-month-old girl were wounded by gunfire in an attempted robbery in a Montbello apartment this evening, police said
A group of people were playing video games at the apartment in the Villages at Gateway at 12175 Albrook Drive about 5:20 p.m., when three of the men pulled weapons and attempted to rob the apartment’s resident, police said.
The man was shot once in the leg, said Detective Sharon Avendano of the Denver Police Department.
As the men left, they sprayed bullets hitting the little girl in the cheek, Avendano said.
The child was rushed to the Children’s Hospital in Aurora. Her father was taken to Denver Health Medical Center. Both are in stable condition and should recover, police said.
The men have not yet been identified.
“Obviously the victims and the others knew them well enough to have them over to play video games,” she said. “But we’re not yet sure of all the relationships, or exactly what was stolen.”
