DENVER—A woman accused of stealing narcotic painkillers and a pump device from an unconscious Marine and Iraq vet in a hospital for surgery is a former police officer whose family said was twice injured in the line of duty.

Fifty-nine-year-old Linda Coulimore was arrested in Mead late Friday on suspicion of aggravated assault on an at-risk adult. Weld County officials say she was released after posting $25,000 bail.

Longmont Cmdr. Timothy Lewis confirmed Coulimore had been an officer. Her son and former husband told The Denver Post that Coulimore suffered a severe knee injury in a car accident in 1966 and needed painkillers. Her family said she had been an emergency medical technician for an air ambulance service and joined the Longmont police force in the 1980s.
