The number of E.coli cases in an outbreak possibly linked to last month’s National Western Stock Show has reached 27, Denver Public Health reported today.
According to Denver Health’s director of marketing and public relations, Dee Martinez, seven new cases have been discovered this week. Three were reported on Wednesday and another four today.
The test results to pinpoint the source of the E. coli outbreak have not yet been released. On Feb. 6, Dr. Chris Urbina, director of Denver Public Health, who is leading the investigation, said the test results were to be expected this week.
At that time, Urbina said the “working hypothesis” is that the E. coli infection could be linked to the Stock Show because 16 infected children had attended the annual event.
The investigation is ongoing, Martinez said.
