BROOMFIELD — The City and County of Broomfield last week took steps toward taking control of the Broomfield Event Center from its current management.
The City Council — acting as the Broomfield Urban Renewal Authority — voted to spend $1.9 million to buy equipment and supplies from Broomfield Sports and Entertainment, which manages the center.
The funds will also purchase land from Park 36 Investment, which owns property next to the arena and its parking garage.
Both businesses are run by Tim Wiens, who is also developing the area surrounding the center.
