$787 BILLION STIMULUS

For: 246/Against: 183 The House gave its final approval to a $787 billion stimulus package that would use a mix of two-thirds direct spending and one-third tax relief that’s estimated to create or save at least 3.5 million jobs by 2011.

Voting yes: All Colo. Democrats

Voting no: All Colo. Republicans

REP. CHARLES RANGEL

For: 242/Against: 157 House members voted to table (kill) a Republican attempt to remove Rep. Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., as chairman of the Ways and Means Committee because of apparent financial misconduct now being probed by the House ethics committee. A yes vote opposed the GOP bid.

Voting yes: All Colo. Democrats

Voting no: All Colo. Republicans

ABUSE OF THE ELDERLY

For: 397/Against: 25 The House voted to authorize $9 million over three years for state programs to prevent abuse of the elderly and provide emergency services to victims of abuse. A yes vote was to pass a bill (HR 448) also funding a federal strategy for combating the problem.

SENATE

$838 BILLION STIMULUS

For: 61/Against: 37 Senators approved an $838 billion mix of tax cuts and spending designed to create or save at least 3.5 million jobs by fiscal 2011. The bill then went into conference to work out differences with what the House approved. A yes vote was to pass HR 1 the first time around.

Voting yes: Bennet, Udall

$787 BILLION STIMULUS

For: 60/Against: 38 Senators sent President Barack Obama the conference report on a $787 billion economic stimulus bill (HR 1, see House vote above) designed to create or save at least 3.5 million jobs by fiscal 2011.

Voting yes: Bennet, Udall

WILLIAM LYNN CONFIRMATION

For: 93/Against: 4 Senators approved William J. Lynn III as deputy defense secretary, the second-ranking civilian post in the Pentagon. A yes vote was to confirm Lynn over arguments that his former position as a leading defense-industry lobbyist raised ethical concerns.

Voting yes: Bennet, Udall

KEY VOTES AHEAD Congress is in Presidents Day recess until the week of Feb. 23.
