LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Cigarettes in Arkansas soon will cost an extra 56 cents a pack. Gov. Mike Beebe signed an $87.8 million tobacco tax hike into law Tuesday to fund a statewide trauma-care system and expand health programs. The law takes effect March 1. The state increase is on top of a 62-cents-a-pack federal excise tax signed into law this month.
