A semi-tanker hauling gasoline rolled on a metro-area highway ramp this morning, spilling some of its load and tying up rush-hour traffic.
The single-vehicle accident happened at about 6 a.m. on the East 74th Avenue ramp onto westbound Interstate 76, said Trooper David Hall of the Colorado State Patrol.
The trucker, Julio Perez, 34, of Denver, was taken to North Suburban Medical Center and treated for minor injuries, Hall said. Details on his condition were not available.
Perez is a driver with W.S.I. Transportation of Henderson, the State Patrol said. The truck was hauling 8,500 gallons of gasoline.
Fuel leaked from the tanker, which toppled near a water-supply reservoir for the city of Thornton, Hall said. A berm around the reservoir kept the fuel from flowing into it.
A State Patrol hazardous-materials team responded to contain and clean the spill.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
