A casino shuttle bus went up in flames after the driver pulled to the shoulder of U.S. 6 tonight as he headed back to Denver from the casinos in Blackhawk and Central City, the Colorado State Patrol said.
The Coach USA driver and his six passengers got out unharmed, said Trooper Ryan Sullivan.
The fire appeared to have started in the brakes at about 6:30 p.m., Sullivan said, and the driver quickly pulled over.
The fire engulfed the bus, closing the highway for several hours as local departments fought the blaze then cleaned up the aftermath.
Sullivan said none of the debris or fire-extinguishing foam reached nearby Clear Creek.
