DENVER—Gov. Bill Ritter returns to Colorado on Tuesday after a weekend talking about the economic stimulus plan in Washington.
The nation’s governors huddled with President Barack Obama to hash out details about the massive economic stimulus act. Colorado stands to get some $2 billion from the new law.
The president told the nation’s governors he would begin distributing $15 billion to their states by the middle of the week to help with Medicaid payments to the poor. The recession has strapped state budgets, in particular the Medicaid program jointly underwritten by state and federal governments.
