Getting your player ready...

Some might say the future of skiing is on display at Copper Mountain this week. Truth is, the future is already reality. And unless you’ve been hanging around the halfpipe all winter, you’re likely to be blown away by the here and now of the U.S. Freeskiing Open when it hits the Main Vein superpipe. Some of the world’s top pros will mingle with amateur athletes in a $20,000 showdown at the longest-standing open freeskiing competition. Aspenite Peter Olenick and Vail wonder girl Claudia Bouvier will be among the hotshots returning to where it all began to show the rest of us where it’s going. Qualifying is Friday, and the semifinals and finals are Saturday. Generation Next gets its shot Sunday with a Junior Jam. The slopestyle competition will not be held this year.
