BOULDER, Colo.—Anna Prins scored 17 points and Chaundra Sewell added 11 as two-time defending champion Broomfield dismantled Fossil Ridge Wednesday night with a 69-20 victory in the Class 4A state semifinals.

The Eagles (27-0), who have won 39 straight games and 80 of their last 81, will try to capture their third consecutive state 4A crown when they play Mullen in the title game Friday at 6 p.m. at the Coors Events Center.

Top-seeded Broomfield made it look easy, leading from start to finish and beating fourth-seeded Fossil Ridge for the third time this season. The Eagles used their superior size and skill to build a 14-3 lead at the end of the first quarter and a 33-8 advantage at the break.

Fossil Ridge (21-6) looked shell-shocked in its first final-four appearance.

The Fort Collins school managed only two points in the third quarter, coming on a pair of free throws by Lauren Benshoof with 49.3 seconds remaining.

Benshoof led Fossil Ridge with nine points.

The SaberCats were then outscored 20-10 by Broomfield’s substitutes in the fourth quarter.

Broomfield, which benefited from 23 points off the bench and had 10 players score at least two points, outshot Fossil Ridge 45 percent to 16 percent from the field. The Eagles also had 55 rebounds to 27 for the SaberCats.
