DENVER—Kroenke Sports Enterprises, which owns the Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche and Pepsi Center among other sports businesses in Denver, has announced that the economic downturn had forced a number of layoffs.

Paul Andrews, executive vice president of Kroenke Sports Enterprises, wouldn’t reveal the number of employees let go because Kroenke Sports is a private company.

Kroenke Sports Enterprises also includes the Colorado Crush indoor football franchise, the Colorado Mammoth lacrosse team, the Colorado Rapids soccer team, Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, and the historic Paramount Theatre in downtown Denver.

It also includes Altitude Sports & Entertainment, which televises games for the Nuggets and Avalanche among other sports and entertainment programming.
