Two Denver-area men were injured today when the homemade, single-engine plane they were in lost power and crashed on the Fort Morgan Municipal Airport runway, authorities said.
The two men were hospitalized with injuries that didn’t appear to be life-threatening, Morgan County Sheriff Jim Crone said. The names of the men have not been released.
The plane’s wings popped off and the nose buckled during the 11:45 a.m. crash, Crone said.
“It could have been a lot worse,” he said.
The aircraft had just taken off and was about 100 feet in the air when it lost power and plummeted, Crone said.
The crash in under investigation, he said.
