WASHINGTON — At least 13 companies receiving billions in bailout money owe a total of more than $220 million in unpaid federal taxes, a key lawmaker said Thursday.
Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga., who leads a House panel overseeing the bailout, said two firms owe more than $100 million apiece. The committee said it can’t legally release the companies’ names, one of which owes nearly $113 million.
