Westword’s Best of Denver issue comes out Wednesdayand hidden in the plethora of categories is the the most coveted of all: Best Hair on a TV Personality!

KUSA-Channel 9’s anchor/reporter Kyle Clark is a relative newcomer to town — and to hair awards. He wears the mantle this year for Best Hair Male.

Veteran KMGH-Channel 7 anchor Theresa Marchetta rules for Best Hair Female.

“Kyle Clark’s cut is multidimensional,” hails Westword. “When he’s on assignment at the scene of a fire or some weather emergency, the hard-charging correspondent’s mop looks mildly mussy yet still under control. Think of it as Action Hair that perfectly complements those Jake Gyllenhaal eyes. In the studio, however, his ‘do — enhanced with a little product — exhibits unexpected complexity, with its waves and ripples suggesting a particularly fashionable topographic map. Destination: cool.”

When told of the honor, Clark immediately mentioned past winners Phil Keating and Leland Vittert. “Now they have a lot of hair. I don’t, but I do the best I can. Enjoy it. Based on family history, I only have about 10 years left with it.”

Marchetta was cautiously excited. to hear the news.

” ‘Elegance’ isn’t a description usually associated with a TV anchor’s coiffure. ‘Bet you could bounce a quarter off it’ is far more common. But every time she appears, 7News anchor/reporter Theresa Marchetta classes up the set. Although her tresses appear to have been tastefully tinted (only her hairdresser knows for sure — but she has twins, and has earned any gray), they flow naturally, with none of the plasticized sheen favored by so many of her professional peers. Talk about delivering the news with style.”

Marchetta said, “It’s, um, flattering. If I can deliver hard-hitting news and have good hair at the same time, that’s a bonus.”

N’awlins.

Boulder chef Hosea Rosenberg, winner of “Top Chef,” is the lead act at the upcoming New Orleans Wine and Food Experience. And not everyone down there is excited about it.

Tom Fitzmorris, NOLA’s top foodie with his website New Orleans Menu Daily, was griping Monday. “I don’t watch much television, so that name wouldn’t register with me,” he writes. “We’ve never had to bring in any outside chefs. . . .”

If they’re proud of anything in NOLA, it’s their food. Have fun, Hosea, but don’t expect too much NOLA love.
