DENVER—The state has set up a new online guide to educate consumers on insurance choices and to help them save money.

The guide was authorized last year by lawmakers and went online Monday.

The guide lists the types of insurance available—from automobile and home insurance to health and life insurance—and includes information on coverage limits, premium costs, a comparison of benefits offered by different carriers, and the number of complaints a company has received.

Rep. Diane Primavera, a Democrat from Broomfield who sponsored the bill, says many Coloradans are finding themselves shopping for insurance on their own for the first time and the guide is a tool to help them navigate the maze of policies.
