Getting your player ready...

Aspen/Snowmass will be jamming once again this weekend.

The ninth annual Spring Jam is highlighted by a free concert Friday with Brooklyn electronic duo Ratatat at the base of Aspen Mountain, and Saturday’s Schneetag race at Snowmass (Fanny Hill, 2-4 p.m.).

Schneetag is the German word for “snow day,” but in Aspen it loosely translates to “daredevils willing to propel themselves down a hill, over a jump and across a pond on a craft they built themselves.” In other words, it’s a show not to be missed.

In between all the entertainment, skiers and riders can check into a terrain park boot camp at Snowmass, where coaches will teach anyone age 13 or older the fundamentals of jib (Saturday and Sunday, noon-3 p.m.).

Hard-core types can feel the burn at Sunday’s Battle in the Bowls uphill/downhill race at Aspen Highlands. Registration remains open until Thursday ($75 for teams of two).
