A 1-year-old Wellington boy was pronounced dead Monday night after Larimer County authorities received a call that the toddler was unresponsive and not breathing.

Authorities got the 911 call at 6:54 p.m. Monday and responded to a home in the 19000 block of Cattle Drive, the Larimer County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release. Emergency personnel unsuccessfully tried to revive the child.

A release from the Sheriff’s Department said the child had no obvious signs of trauma and that the family is fully cooperating with authorities.

The investigation is expected to take six to eight weeks. No official determination about cause and manner of death will be made until all the reports are in, she said.

Four agencies are collaborating in the investigation: the Department of Human Services, the Larimer County district attorney’s office, the Larimer County coroner’s office and the Larimer County Sheriff’s Department.
