BOULDER, Colo.—Bond has been set at $20 million for a Boulder County man awaiting sentencing in his infant son’s death after allegedly violating conditions of his original bond.

Defense attorney Paul McCormick declined to say whether he would ask for a lower bond for 29-year-old Alex Midyette, who appeared briefly Tuesday in court.

Midyette was convicted last month of child abuse in the 2006 death of his 11-week-old son, Jason. Midyette was free on $1.5 million bond when re-arrested Friday for allegedly being near children at a Morrison home.

Midyette’s bond barred him from having contact with children other than nieces and nephews older than 2, but was allegedly with the children of a woman he’s dating.

Sentencing on the child abuse conviction is set for April 20.
