MINNEAPOLIS—Justin Mercier, Alden Hirschfield and Bill Loupee scored to give Miami of Ohio an early three-goal lead, and Cody Reichard made 17 saves in the RedHawks’ 4-2 victory over Denver on Friday in the NCAA hockey West Regional.
Andy Miele also scored for Miami (21-12-5). The RedHawks advanced to face the Minnesota Duluth-Princeton winner in the regional final Saturday night.
Joe Colborne and Tyler Bozak had power-play goals for Denver, the top seed in the region. The Pioneers finished the season 23-12-5.
