SALIDA, Colo.—The Alaska National Guard says one of its helicopters crashed near Monarch Pass in southern Colorado, but none of the three crew members was injured.
National Guard spokeswoman Kalei (KUH’-lay) Brooks says the UH-60 Black Hawk was returning to Alaska after a routine maintenance inspection at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs when it went down Thursday afternoon.
The cause is under investigation, but Brooks says weather was not believed to be a factor.
Monarch Pass is about 11,300 feet above sea level and about 110 miles southwest of Denver.
