The fickle winds and weather of spring are no match for the versatile Skeena Jacket (MSRP: $370) from Westcomb.
Available in a helmet-sized hooded version or a standard collar classic cut, this soft shell incorporates a breathable eVent membrane that makes it almost waterproof (the seams aren’t taped), then adds a layer of T-shirt-weight merino wool to wick away moisture on the inside.
The stretchy, three-layer hybrid manages to remain lightweight (about a pound and a half) with few frills beyond a pair of hand-warmer pockets and two sleek pockets stashed inside and on the sleeve. Available in men’s and women’s models.
