An Aurora man dozed off while preparing dinner on his stove Sunday, resulting in a kitchen fire that spread through his house causing $120,000 in damage, officials said Monday.
The fire occurred in the 14000 block of East Tuffs Avenue about 4:30 p.m. Sunday, said Capt. Allen Robnett, spokesman for the Aurora Fire Department. The man, who was in the home alone, escaped unharmed.
The fire was brought under control about 5 p.m., but the home sustained heavy damage, Robnett said.
