GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—An Olathe man has been advised he faces multiple charges, including vehicular homicide and driving under the influence of alcohol, after a two-vehicle crash that killed his son.
Thirty-two-year-old Juan Prieto-Gonzalez appeared in a Delta courtroom Monday to be advised of the charges.
The Colorado State Patrol says Prieto-Gonzalez was driving a Chevrolet Camaro at about 3 p.m. Sunday when he ran a stop sign and drove into the path of a Chevrolet Suburban between Olathe and Delta.
The Montrose County coroner says Jose Juan Prieto died instantly of neck and head injuries. The coroner listed Jose’s birthdate as Nov. 4, 2000, but the State Patrol said he was born Nov. 11, 2001.
Prosecutors say Prieto-Gonzalez had a blood-alcohol content of .257.
